HOW THIS WORKS/YOUR COST

Please also be sure to read the FAQs listed on this site.

This program is voucher-based with a limit of 20 vouchers issued per month and an easy application process to determine eligibility. Not all applicants will receive a voucher as they are limited to 20 available per cycle.

Rates as of 8/28/24

Canine or Feline Spay: $75

Canine or Feline Neuter: $75

Deposit required: $75 to be paid directly to the participating veterinary provider noted on your voucher.

Note: Provider rates may change without notice. Rates are valid as of 8/28/24. Canine: Brachycephalic breeds will require an additional $100 fee to be paid to the provider directly at the time of reservation.

Our veterinary providers reserve the right to decline any animal deemed high-risk due to health, age, weight (may not exceed 80#), etc. Pets aged 7 years or older will require a senior lab panel (bloodwork) at your regular vet prior to our provider approving your pet for surgery.

This program is offered to eligible residents of Berkeley County, SC. Application cycles run from the 1st through the 5th of each month and the application link will post here on the 1st of each month. As long as you have not received a voucher previously, you are welcome to apply/re-apply.

APPLICATION CYCLES RUN MONTHLY FROM THE 1ST TO THE 5TH. ***Outside of those dates, the form linked below will NOT accept responses. Please check back between the 1st and 5th of the month.***

Click here to complete the application. ONLY ONE VOUCHER WILL BE ISSUED PER HOUSEHOLD, PER YEAR.

Applicants will be notified by the 20th of the month during an application cycle whether they are accepted/declined, along with any next steps to scheduling their pet's surgery if a voucher is to be issued. Please watch your email inbox for updates and mark helpberkeleypets@gmail.com as a safe sender to ensure you do not miss a message.

Surgery rates are far below many private veterinary offerings and the program is being generously subsidized through a nonprofit Berkeley County entity to encourage responsible pet guardianship.

As such, once eligibility is confirmed and if you are selected to receive a voucher (limited number available per month), the voucher will allow you to schedule your pet for their spay or neuter procedure through our selected veterinary provider. You will be required to make a deposit to the provider directly to reserve your pet's appointment. The surgical procedure will also include pain medicine for the patient, any required core vaccines (rabies, distemper) and a microchip, also sponsored. We urge you to take advantage of these additional offerings, if needed.

* There may be costs associated with supplemental items you may request, including but not limited to a post-op collar to prevent your pet from accessing the surgery site. Please inquire at the time of scheduling.

* Owners who can present evidence of a current rabies vaccine should do so at the time of registration/scheduling or drop-off the day of surgery, to prevent unnecessary vaccinations.
